Schaghticoke Francis W. OConnor Francis W. OConnor of Schaghticoke, NY passed away on February 4, 2012. Born in 1915 in Scriba, NY, Fran was the son of Paul J. and Mary E. OConnor, the oldest of nine children. He graduated from Oswego High School and Oswego State Teachers College. While teaching Industrial Arts in Sauquoit, NY, he met his future wife, Helen, in 1937. They married in 1939. They eventually moved to Schaghticoke where both taught at Hoosic Valley Central School until their retirement in the early 1970s. Fran and Helen ran a ceramic studio and enjoyed traveling and RVing in the Adirondacks until her death in 1980. Fran kept busy attending church, community activities and meetings. He was especially active as a director of the Schaghticoke Fair Association. He loved visiting with his family and his wonderful neighbors and friends. Fran is survived by his son Robert (Carol) OConnor of Cape Cod, his daughter Sharon (Bill) Haseltine of Elizabethtown, NY; his grandchildren Alonna (Mark) Rudolph and Chris Haseltine and his great grandchildren Matthew and Abby Rudolph. Survivors also include his sister Agnes Holliday; his sister-in-law Annette Rich; his brother-in-law Rich Young; and many nieces and nephews. Fran was predeceased by his parents, his wife and brothers James, John, Paul, Joseph and Peter and sisters Mary and Margaret. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the Hoosic Valley Fire Department, 69 Stillwater Bridge Road, Schaghticoke, NY, the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad, 1448 Route 40, Schaghticoke, NY 12154 our to a charity of your choice in Fran's honor.
