Obituary

Johnsonville, Rensselaer County Retired Town Justice Francis D. Frank Loszynski, longtime resident of Johnsonville and most recently of Loudonville, passed away peacefully at the Loudonville Assisted Living Residence on Friday, January 26, 2018 with his loving family at his side. He was 90. Born on February 12, 1927 in Adams, MA, son of the late Casimer and Anna Loszynski. Frank at the young age of 18 entered military service and was honorably discharged as a corporal after serving in the US Merchant Marines, US Coast Guard and the US Army Air Corps during World War II. Frank was awarded the Army Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Frank retired as the owner of the Valley Feed Service in Johnsonville, a career spanning over 40 years. He was a member of the former St. Monicas Church in Johnsonville where he served on the Parish Council and most recently a member of Transfiguration Parish, North in Schaghticoke. He honorably served the Town of Pittstown as Town Justice for 32 years and especially enjoyed as Town Justice making himself available to perform a dignified matrimonial service to loving couples. He was proud to be a distinguished member of the New York State Magistrates Association, where, for years he served as the treasurer for the local chapter. Frank was always regarded as a fair and impartial judge with an unwavering respect for law enforcement in Rensselaer County and beyond. A civil servant, he also was a volunteer member of the Johnsonville Fire Department and had formerly served as a commissioner in the fire district. Above all, he will be remembered as a strong family man and was a devoted and loving husband and father. He especially loved boating and water sports as a pastime at the family summer camp at Cossayuna Lake and enjoyed bowling and playing poker with his friends in the community. He was the husband of the late Gladys E. (Hunt) Loszynski and the late Beverly A. (Brundige) Loszynski. Mr. Loszyski is survived by his 6 children, Joseph (Deborah) Loszynski of Clifton Park, Elizabeth (Stuart) Staude of Glenville, Kimberly Loszynski (Lawrence Barton) of Buskirk, John Bertrum (Lisa) Loszynski of Greenwich, Michael Loszynski of Cossayuna and Bruce (Wendy) Loszynski of Bergenfield, NJ, 24 loving and beautiful grandchildren and 39 adoring great grandchildren. He is predeceased by a daughter, Gale Barton, formerly of Buskirk. Relatives and friends may call from 5-8:00pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 729 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. George Fleming at 11:00am on Thursday, February 1 at Transfiguration Parish, North in Schaghticoke. Burial with military honors will be in the spring at St. Johns R.C. Cemetery, Schaghticoke.
