Melrose - Rensselaer Co. Forrest "Pete" Williams passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was 81. Pete was born on October 21, 1932 in Hoosick Falls, son of the late George and Lucy (LeBarron) Williams. He is the wife of Corinne (Madigan) whom he married in 1951. A graduate of Troy High School, class of 1950 he went on to attend the Hudson Valley Community College and worked at the Watervliet Arsenal, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Adirondack Fiddler's Club and Olde Tyme Country Round and Square Dance Club. Pete is a co-founder and past president of the Hoosic Valley Athletic Association. He also operated a lawn mowing service for years in Troy. Survivors in addition to his dancing partner of 62 years, Corinne, include their seven children, Tim (Karen), Tom (Trish), Dan (Patti), Missy (Bill), Melanie (Dick), David (Laura) and Mike (Cindy), their grandchildren, Amber (Brian), Nate, Kim, Chris, Laura, Theresa, Meg (Valencie), Jarrod (Mary) Greg (Andrea), Jess (Kyle), Shay, Steve, Jason, Aaron, Scott, Kira, Sophie, Hannah, Abel and Ruby. He is "Poppa Pete" to Forrest, Alex, Charlotte, Hudson, Rory and Ada. Relatives and friends may call from 11:00-1:00pm on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. Memorial service will be conducted at 1:00pm in the funeral home.
