Stillwater Saratoga County
Eva (Morby) Chase, 95, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2017. Eva was born on May 6, 1922 in Stillwater, NY to Rose (Hanley) Morby and James Morby. She was one of eight children. Eva graduated from Stillwater Central School and then went to work at the Watervliet Arsenal and General Electric in Schenectady during the war.
She married Levern Chase on December 31, 1943 at Seymour Johnson Field, Goldsboro, North Carolina (and were married almost 50 years when he passed) When Levern returned home from the war, he built their home in Stillwater where they raised their 4 children. Mom enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, doing crafts, and listening to the radio and entering contests. When the children were grown, she loved to play bingo, belonging to a dart league with her American Legion Auxillary sisters, bowling with the morning coffee league, going on trips and going to the different casinos and the Saratoga Racino. She especially enjoyed get-togethers with her family. She was the life of the party.
In addition to her parents and husband, mom is predeceased by an infant son, James Walter, her grandson, Jacob Chase, her sister, Rose Verespi and her brothers, John, James, Carlton, Alfred and Raymond Morby. She will be dearly missed by her children: Martha Shea (Paul), Diane Chase, Thomas Chase (Maryjo) and William Chase (Bruce Hoffmann), her grandchildren: Kevin Shea, Kimberly Gagne (Joseph), Kelly Shea (Jay Ryan), Robert Chase, Meichle Latham Lussier (John), Dennis Latham, Jr., (Heather), Michael Latham (April). Great grandchildren: Kendra Shea, Macallan Gagne, Jameson Gagne, Savanna, Landon, Justice, Lucas, Parker, Raina and Tanner Latham; her brother George Morby and her sister in law Marion Morby as well as many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, mom requested that you donate to a charity of your choice. Thank you to the staff at Capital Living Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady. A special thank you to Joanne, Mary, Lori, Leyden, Liz and Connie and an extra special thank you to Will in the Willow Section who were so wonderful with Mom.
