Stillwater, Saratoga County Elizabeth C. Monty (Bette), formerly of County Route 75, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Evergreen Retirement Community in Lancaster, PA.where she resided since 2011. She was 93. Born in Stillwater on January 18, 1923, daughter of the late Leo and Harriett (Talmadge) Tinney. She is the widow of the late Harold T. Monty, Sr. whom she married on September 24, 1954. Bette was a graduate of St. Pauls Parochial School, Mechanicville High School and the Mildred Elley Business School. She retired after 42 years of service from the Boston & Maine Railroad as General manager and VP. A communicant of Saint Pauls Church and participant of the former St. Peters Church in Stillwater. Bette was a devout patroness of the Holy Rosary. She was also a member of the D.E. LaDow Ladies Auxillary, a past President of the Mechanicville Area Senior Citizens and volunteered for the Saratoga County Office of the Aging and Meals on Wheels. In her younger years she was a member of St. Pauls 1940 Championship Basketball team and an avid swimmer, tennis player and skier. Bette and her husband travelled extensivelly throughout the United States and Canadian Providences. Bette is survived by her son, Harold (Mary Ann) Monty, Jr. of Landisville, PA, and her two grandchildren, Jennifer (Simon) Kristovensky of Lebanon, PA and Joshua (Lindsay) Monty of Anchorage, AK and four great grandchildren, Peyton Monty, Maceon and Trinity Mummaw and Mara Kristovensky. She is predeceased by her brother, Paul Tinney. Relatives and friends may call from 11:00-11:45am on Friday, November 25, 2016 at All Saints on the Hudson Church, Hudson Avenue Stillwater.
