Edward P. Messick, Sr., of Otter Creek Road passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center in Albany. He was 82.
Born in Troy on May 3, 1934, son of the late Edward and Anna (Lausen) Messick. He is the husband of the late Janet (Brunick) Messick.
Mr. Messick served from 1952-1960 in the US Air Force. He worked as the Director of Building Services at the former Cohoes Hospital. He was a member of the Melrose Volunteer Fire Department and the Grafton Trail Riders.
Survivors include his sons, Edward Skip Messick of Clifton Park and Scott (Patty) Messick of Pleasant Valley, his daughters, Mary (Gary) Gratton of Melrose and Janice (Dan) Wardwell of Johnsonville. Also survived by his siblings, Thomas Messick, Anna Messick and Betty Gendron as well as his eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is predeceased by a daughter Susan Messick-Wagner.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses on the Gold Unit at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center for their compassionate care.
Relatives and friends may call from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. Funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 10:00am in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery, Schaghticoke.
