Mechanicville, Saratoga County Edward J. Higgins of North Third Avenue passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Samaritan Hospital. He was 72. Born in Troy on June 16, 1945, son of Kathryn (Grey) Higgins and the late John Nolan Higgins. He is the husband of the former Judith Daigle. Mr. Higgins worked for the NYS Department of Parks and Recreation in Waterford as a security guard for over 30 years. Ed was a member of the Saratoga Abundant Life Church where he served as an usher. He enjoyed walks with his dog Spencer around town and daily trips to Dunkin Donuts. Survivors in addition to his mother Kathryn and wife Judith Higgins, both of Mechanicville include his siblings, John J. (Patricia) Higgins, Jr., Mary Elizabeth (Steve) Brzozowski and Kathryn Susan (Thomas) Hines, his children, Julie Higgins and Tami Plath and grandchildren Cassandra Marshall and Liam Sherry, all of Mechanicville. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his siblings, Michael Irving Higgins, Anthony Higgins and Patricia Amoroso. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00am in the church. Burial will be in St. Pauls Cemetery, Mechanicville at the convenience of the family.
