Obituary

Fox, Edward James - Valley Falls Edward (Ed) James Fox, 77, of Valley Falls took the hand of the Lord on March 18, 2022, following a long battle with cancer. Born March 3, 1945, in Cherry Valley, he was the son of the late Clayton and Lottie Fox. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 45 years, Ruth Anne (Koch) Fox. Ed was a kind soul whose greatest joy was his family. Ed was a car hauler for many years and enjoyed traveling the Northeast delivering cars. After retiring from truck driving, he loved spending time with his beloved wife, Ruth, and his grandsons. Ed had been a volunteer firefighter for the Valley Falls Fire Department. He was an avid NASCAR fan and attended a number of races with his daughter, Karen. He had also raced for a time as a teenager at Lebanon Valley Speedway and still went to watch races there. In the summers, Ed loved to spend time at Golden Beach Campground at Raquette Lake, NY. He had started going there as a teenager and then passed his love of the place onto his family. After going there for so long, a second family was created with another bunch of campers, Adams, Polivkas, LaPatas and Noyes. Ed loved and was proud of his daughter with all his heart. He enjoyed helping out at competitions and dance recitals while his daughter danced at Mary Ann Fortunes Dance Studio. He could be seen as an usher or putting out the gymnastic mats and continued to help out after she began her dance teacher career. He was thankful and loved his son-in-law, and enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandsons who were the apples of his eye. Ed is survived by his daughter, Karen (Robert) Shufelt of Valley Falls and his very much loved grandsons, Zebadiah Rutherford and Therin Edward Shufelt of Valley Falls; brothers Walter (Sandy) Fox of Schaghticoke; Albert (June) Fox of Pittsboro, NC and Robert Fox of Troy; sisters-in-law Joan McCormack of Valley Falls and Susan (Michael) Cramer of Ballston Spa; and brother-in-law George Koch of Brunswick. He was loved by nieces, nephews and friends. He will be sorely missed by all.
