Dorothy E. Welch, 90, died Tuesday evening January 4th at the Eddy Village Green, Cohoes, NY following a lengthy illness. Born August 17, 1920 in Albany, Daughter of the late Louis & Marian Viall Williamson. Wife of David M. Welch whom she married August 17, 1940. A graduate of Schaghticoke Public Schools and the Mildred Elley Business College. A house wife and mother, she also worked at the Watervliet Arsenal during WW II, In later years she was a Cafeteria worker for Hoosic Valley Schools. A member of the Presbyterian United Church in Schaghticoke, she was also a member of the former Cambridge Valley Garden Club. Life member of the Palestine Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors in addition to her husband David include: David L. (Linda) Welch of Spiegletown, NY, 2 daughters: Judith A. (Carlton) Phelps of Mechanicville Deborah E. (Kenneth) VanWert of Mechanicville, 1 sister: Louanne (Alvin) Hoag of Stephenville, Texas, Also survived by 5 Grandchildren: Keith , Darren, Laurie Phelps, Mark Welch & Tonya Bechand, 7 Great grandchildren Deborah Bombard, Guinevere, Jennifer, Amanda & Austin Phelps, Morgan & Madeline Bechand 1 Great Great Grandson Timothy Bombard, Jr. and several Nieces and Nephews. Predeceased by a sister Lois Macri Relatives and friends may call Saturday January 8th from 1:00 to 2:30PM. A Funeral service will be held at 2:30PM from the Chase Funeral Home 173 Main Street Schaghticoke with the Rev. Stephen Cordes officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Elmwood Cemetery in Schaghticoke. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice in her memory.
