SSG Dennis W. Lenz United States Army 1st Regiment/389th Battalion April 5, 1966 - December 20, 2022 Dennis Wade Lenz, 56, of Stillwater, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. He was born on April 5, 1966 in Gothenburg, Nebraska, to Paul A. Lenz and Iona F. Lenz of Moorefield, Nebraska. Dennis enlisted in the United States Army in 1984 and was a dedicated serviceman who received several medals, honors and awards before his retirement in 2014. He served in the first Persian Gulf War and participated in the liberation of Kuwait. Dennis was also deployed twice to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Dennis only civilian job was at The Home Depot. He began his career at the Clifton Park, New York store and then transferred to the Albany, New York store where he held several positions over the past 23 years, most recently as an Assistant Manager. Dennis was a loving husband and is survived by his devoted wife, Tracy (Palyswiat) Lenz, of Stillwater, New York, as well as his four beautiful children: his daughter, Daryan Tennant and her husband Eric, of Marianna, Florida, his son, Drex Hoagland of Marianna, Florida, his daughter Mykeighla Lenz of Stillwater, New York, and his son Wylliam Lenz of Stillwater, New York. He was a cherished Grand Daddio to one adorable granddaughter, Stetzyn Tennant, of Marianna, Florida. Dennis is also survived by four brothers, two sisters and two sister in-laws: Cheri (Lenz) Bopp and her husband, Jim, of Culbertson, Nebraska, Susie Lenz, wife of Kenneth Lenz, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, Dale Lenz and his wife Laura, of Oxford, Iowa, Nancy Lenz, wife of Dwight Lenz, of North Platte, Nebraska, Jeff Lenz and his wife Kim, of Maywood, Nebraska, Kevin Lenz and his wife Brenda, of Seward, Nebraska, Les Lenz and his wife Robin, of Papillion, Nebraska, and Katie Houston, of Alliance, Nebraska, as well as several nieces and nephews. Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Paul A. Lenz and Iona F. Lenz, of Moorefield, Nebraska as well as two brothers and a brother-in-law; Kenneth Lenz of Gothenburg, Nebraska, Dwight Lenz of North Platte, Nebraska, and Terry Houston, husband of Katie Houston, of Alliance, Nebraska. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Chase-Smith Funeral Home, 729 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater, New York. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 at the same location before proceeding to the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, New York for the burial at 1:00pm. A celebration of life will follow the burial at the American Legion Post 91, 427 S.
