Delores Eileen
Boom
Sep 20, 1936 — Oct 18, 2024
Mechanicville, Saratoga County
Delores E. (Fisher) Boom, 88, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, October 18, 2024. She had just celebrated her 88th birthday with family on September 20.
Delores was raised on a farm in Northfield, MA by her parents, the late Arthur and Irene 'Gladys' (Masterson) Fisher. When she wasn't doing chores, she enjoyed taking long walks in the fields picking berries and flowers or sitting under a tree by a cool stream enjoying the quiet solitude of nature.
At age 18, Delores moved to Valley Falls, NY to live with her aunt, Dora Masterson McMahon. It was here that she later met and married Kenneth Boom also of Valley Falls. Together they had three daughters: Pamela (Kurt) Noyes, Susan (Edward) Wilbur, Sandra (Steve) Stortecky. Years later, Delores met Stanley Cukrovany of Schaghticoke, NY. Together, they lived here for several decades and share a son, Jeffrey Cukrovany. Delores had 9 grand children: Christopher Noyes, Stephanie (Tom) Cashdollar, Jaime Mullin, Carrie LaFlamme, Nicholas Wilbur, Ethan (MaryAnne) Stortecky, Emma Stortecky, Mia Cukrovany and Tessa Cukrovany; 13 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. All of which she remembered with birthday cards every year.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Rose (Joe) Allison and Joan (Ronald) Winship, and one brother, Arthur Jr 'Sonny' (Connie) Fisher. She is survived by her youngest sibling, Christine (David) Ewell of Wendell, MA.
You would often find her enjoying coffee at Stewart's in Schaghticoke or at McDonald's in Mechanicville always "chit-chatting" with one or more of the many friends and acquaintances she had met over the years.
In 2008 she moved to the Mid-Rise apartments in Mechanicville where she met many new friends. She enjoyed many activities – the weekly bus rides, playing Bingo, attending church services and meals at the senior center. Her most cherished activities were spending time with her family – birthday and holiday celebrations, cookouts at the Saratoga Park, lunches and ice cream outings with her children and grandchildren.
She lived a simple life with grace, humility and kindness. She cherished most, the time spent with family and friends. She will truly be missed by everyone who knew her.
A memorial service to remember Delores' life will be held on Tuesday, November 19th, from 6:30-8:30 at the Valley Falls United Methodist Church social hall, 16 State Street, Valley Falls. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Elmwood Cemetery, Schaghticoke, NY for close family members with Pastor Dion Marquit officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Valley Falls United Methodist Church in her memory.
