Schaghticoke, Rensselaer County David James Ryan passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the Van Rensselaer Manor with his loving family by his side. He was 90. David was born on March 14, 1931 at his home on Green Valley Farm. He was the son of the late Peter J. Ryan and Helen (OBrien) Ryan. He attended Elementary School in Schaghticoke and was a graduate of Stillwater High School class of 1949. He operated the family farm with his father until 1960. Where upon; his wife and seven sons operated the farm together. Dave was active in Rensselaer County Extension Service, Dairy League and the Agway Council. He was the first Grand Knight of the Hoosic Valley Council Knights of Columbus and was a K of C District Deputy. He also was a Charter Member of the Hoosic Valley Volunteer Fire Company where he served on the Board of Directors for many years and also attained the rank of Captain. He was a Democratic Committeeman for many years. For thirty-eight years he coached adult basketball at Hoosic Valley Central School. He was an usher at Saint Peters Church, Stillwater for 60 years. Dave, is survived by his wife Agnes (Callahan) Ryan whom he married on June 9, 1956, his seven sons, Michael (Shannon), John (Cheryl), Peter (Linda), David (Widilia), Paul, James (Heather) and Thomas. He, is also survived by his loving Grandchildren, Jeremy (Joe Jones), Meghan (Dan King), Brendan (Lauren), Kayla (Kevin Yandon), Emily, Brooke (Matt Spano), Brianna (Chad Houle), Serenna (Chris Mayo), Kyle (Paige), Connor, Bridget (Matt Marvin) and Zachary (Grace Momrow). Great Grandchildren, Ryan, Calvin King, Emmalyn Yandon, Colton Houle and Viella Mayo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters, Sister James Michael, CSJ, Marie E. Popp and his brothers John Edward and Vincent J. Ryan. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Johns Cemetery, Schaghticoke.
