Schaghticoke, Rensselaer County David James Fennelly of Main Street passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. He was 78. Born in Troy on November 11, 1944, son of the late Patrick and Margaret (Hagney) Fennelly. He is the husband of Joan Ann Garner. David worked in assembly and inspection at Ford Motor Company in Green Island. Survivors in addition to his wife Joan Ann Fennelly include his son, David (Jennifer) Fennelly and daughter Jo-Ann (George) Fennelly, a brother Edward (Theresa) Fennelly and his adoring grandchildren Margaret Ann (Lewis) Slater, Joan Marie Herald, Susan Herald, Jenna Marie (Donald) Fennelly, Nicole (Stephan) Smith and David Patrick (Whitney) Fennelly. Also survived by his great grandchildren Wesley Slater, Adalynn Slater, David James Fennelly, Arthur Slater and Callen Smith. Calling hours will be from 10am-12noon on Friday, October 6, 2023 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. A service will be conducted in the funeral home at noon with burial to follow in St. Josephs Cemetery, Troy.
