Daniel Ross York of Saratoga Springs, New York passed away June 13, 2026 at Hospice Inn - Saint Peter's Hospital in Albany, New York after a short illness. He was born at Niskayuna Hospital September 6, 1949, to Claud Herbert York and Lois Marie York; both grew up in Medway, ME having moved to NY after WW2 where Herbie served in US Air Corp. European Theatre.
Dan proudly served in the US Coast Guard as a Radioman. Dan leaves behind 2 children with former spouse Debbie Vaughn York, (Troy, NY); a daughter Erica Vienneau (son-in-law Ryan) of Stillwater, NY and son Scott York (daughter-in-law Emily) of Mooresville, NC. He has two grandchildren Mia, 10 and Mason, 5.
Dan has a sister Claudia Petruny of Sarasota, FL and brother Nathan "Bud" York of Falls Church, VA. He was predeceased by a sister, Cynthia Underwood of West Warwick RI. He has three nieces, Allison Kruger of Ivins, UT, Kristen Bilbrey of Bradenton, FL, Carrie York of Falls Church, VA and nephew Jarrod York of Greenfield, NY.
Dan loved to fish, paint, go to Saratoga Race Course, cook and learn new recipes on Youtube. He watched his share of sports on TV. He played basketball in high school and for the US Coast Guard. Being 6' 5" was a big advantage.
A Memorial will be held at his final resting place, Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville on July 31, 2026 at 11am.
Dan will be sadly missed by his family and friends. May he rest in the comfort of our Lord.
