Obituary

Stillwater, Saratoga County Christopher Shawn Steadman, 63, died peacefully on Saturday September 9th, 2023, at his sister Heidis home in Albany, after a lengthy battle with Cancer. Born in Troy on October 4, 1959, son of the late Harold and Patricia (Lavertue) Steadman. Chris was a Union painter for Local 201, in Menands. He enjoyed and took pride in all the projects he painted, especially the Alpine Bobsled at the Great Escape. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, spending time at "his" beach, otherwise known as Hampton Beach NH, Deer hunting, fishing, and loved spending time with his family. He led a bad ass life, but loved deeply and had a big heart. His stories and reciting the words to all different songs will be greatly missed. Survivors include his sisters, Heidi (Earl) Waldron of Albany, Sally Higgins of Clinton, MA and Amy Steadman of Mechanicville, his nieces and nephews, Abby (Otto) Ambuhl and their son Edan, Erin (James) Learned and their children Drew, Chase and Allison, Sarah Myers and her children Harper, Hudson, Gavin and Gracelynn, Owen (Doni) Laffety and his son Eli and Craig Steadman. Also survived by his dear friend Bonnie Slocum. Chris is predeceased by his brother Lew Steadman, his sister Martha Steadman, as well as Sadie Mae, one of his beloved Boxers. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to all the Drs & staff at Upstate Hematology Oncology. Calling hours will be on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 5:00 - 7:00pm at Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 729 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater. Funeral service and burial will be private at East Lawn Cemetery, Williamstown, MA. It was Chris wish that those who attend to dress down or consider wearing some type of Harley Davidson attire.
