Buskirk - Rensselaer County Charles Henry Rifenburgh of J. Herrington Road passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. He was 77. Born in Tomhannock on April 28, 1938, son of the late Gordon and Elizabeth (Peters) Rifenburgh. Chuck served in the US Navy from 1955-1959. After his service, he worked as a truck driver for Grand Union in Waterford. He loved playing golf and enjoyed carpentry, building and hunting. Survivors include his wife, Martha (Matheson) Rifenburgh of Buskirk, his children Charles Rifenburgh, Jr. of Petersburgh, Cynthia (late Joe) Murphy of South Glens Falls, Marion Gilchrest of Bozeman, MT and Joelle Rifenburgh of Garner, NC, his stepchildren, Christine (Brad) Lindsey of Seffner, FL, Edward Wallace of Melrose and Lori (Jeffrey) Maynard of Johnsonville. Also survived by several siblings, grand and great grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call from 11:30am-1:30pm on Wednesday, May 27 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. A memorial service will be at 1:30pm in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in the Saratoga National Cemetery.
