Charles F. Carpenter of Hudson Avenue passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. He was 81.
Born on April 10, 1933 in Stillwater, son of the late Ernie and Bea (Kenney) Carpenter.
Charles is a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1952-1956 aboard the USS Johnston . He was employed by Raloid Tool and Die Company in Mechanicville. He is a member of the American Legion Post 490, Stillwater and a past coach for the Mechanicville Stillwater Little League. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed horse riding.
Survivors include his children, Gary I. Carpenter of Stillwater, Gail Moore of Melrose, Gina (Tim) Bromirski of Stillwater and Geri (Joe) DeMarco of Stillwater, his sister Joan Izzo of Mechanicville and his grandchildren, Matthew Carpenter, Kelly Carpenter, Tonya Russell, Nicole LaRoe, Tyler Moore, Lindsay DeMarco and Joseph DeMarco. Also survived by four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother, John "Bud" Carpenter and daughter in law Kathleen Carpenter.
Relatives and friends may call from 4-7pm on Wednesday, May 21at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 319 Park Avenue, Mechanicville. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:30am on Thursday at All Saints on the Hudson, North Church (Stillwater). Burial with military honors will be in the Gerald B. H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery.
