Catherine L. Saunders of Master Street passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at her home. She was 100. Born at home in Wynantskill on December 23, 1913 daughter of the late Leroy and Alma (Wend) Tate. She is the widow of the late Willard F. Saunders who passed away in 1973. Mrs. Saunders had been a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Johnsonville since the 1950s. She retired from General Electric, Silicones in Waterford after 32 years, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club and one of the pioneers of the plant in Waterford at their opening in 1947. Catherine enjoyed traveling and saw much of the United States and Canada. Survivors include her siblings, Alice Tupper of Fort Ann, Dorothy Tate of Hoosick Falls and Lawrence "Bud" (Phyllis) Tate of Buskirk, her sister in law Patricia Tate of Live Oak, FL and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her siblings, Nick Tate, Ken Tate, Marjorie Flynn and Roy Tate. Relatives and friends may call from 10:30am-12:30pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Christ United Methodist Church, 22 Bridge Street, Johnsonville. Funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 in the church and burial will follow in the family plot in Millertown Cemetery. The family is thankful and appreciative of the care givers that made it possible for her to be at her home and for their care for Catherine.
