Schaghticoke, Rensselaer County Catherine M. Guay passed from her life on Earth to rest with her Lord and Savior on November 15, 2016. Born in Waterford, NY on March 28, 1932, the youngest child of Patrick A. and Catherine V. Coffey Curtain, Catherine was predeceased by her parents and siblings George, Joan and Mary. Valedictorian of Waterford High School Class of 1950, Catherine pursued her teaching credentials at Oneonta State Teachers College and began a 26-year career, 25 of which she was a first-grade teacher at Hoosic Valley Central School. She moved to Valley Falls after marrying J. Edmond Guay, Sr., April 22, 1957. Together they raised five children: Cathy, Dan, Joseph Edmond, Jr., John and Gregory. Catherine was grandmother to Michael Canzeri, Jennifer (Michael) Seber, Nelson Guay, Kristopher Daurio, Mallory and Maria Guay; great grandmother to Aidan and Aliyah Paulo, Ava Guay, Sophia Guay and Natalie Canzeri Janisch. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. Always proud of her Irish heritage and Catholic faith, Catherine also taught religious education and RCIA classes and enjoyed several trips to Ireland after her retirement. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:30am at Transfiguration Parish following the visiting hours. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery, Schaghticoke.
