Newton, Carl Floyd - Schaghticoke Carl Floyd Newton of Verbeck Avenue, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Center in Delmar. He was 82. Born in Castleton on August 24, 1933, son of the late Albert and Etta (Curtis) Newton. He is the husband of the former Millicent Mae "Millie" Haley, whom he married on December 8, 1951. Carl spent his earlier years working at the Newton Farm in Schaghticoke. After the sale of the family farm, he went on to work as a groundskeeper for the Hudson Valley Community College for 20 years. His true passion was his John Deere tractors and he collected Deere memorabilia. Survivors in addition to his wife of 63 years, Millie include their sons, John (Kit) Newton of Easton, William Newton of Schaghticoke, his grandchildren Jenna, Justin and Victoria and great grandchildren Riley and Chase. His siblings, Marjorie (Douglas) MacWhinney and Arlene (James) Salisbury and his beloved kitty, Sara. He is predeceased by his brothers, Elmer and Herbert Newton. Relatives and friends may call from 4-7pm on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke.
