New York City Barbara Hoenzsch, 62, passed away on December 8th, 2022. She is predeceased by her husband, Richard Hoenzsch, who passed away in 2005. She is survived by her three children: Karl, Jo, and Will as well as her grandson Charlie. Barbara was a mother, teacher, and tireless advocate for social justice. Friends and family remember her as someone who cared deeply. From assisting with humanitarian missions in Venezuela to starting a homeschooling cooperative and running a small homestead for many years, Barbaras life was full, interesting and well-lived. Most recently, she taught at Johnstown High School but moved down to New York City in 2019 to teach in East Harlem and be closer to her grandson. Barbaras wake will be held 2:00-5:00 PM on Sunday, December 11th at Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 729 Hudson Ave. Stillwater, NY 12170. The funeral will be held at Hudson View Cemetery in Mechanicville on Monday, December 12th at 10:00 AM. Barbara continuously seized every moment and encouraged others to do the same.
