Culnane, Anna S. - Cohoes, Albany County Anna S. Culnane of Cohoes, formerly of Mechanicville, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016 at St. Marys Hospital in Troy, NY. She was 89 years old. Anna was born on August 14, 1926 in Hoosic Falls, NY, daughter of the late Arthur J. Street and Kathryn V. Street. She is predeceased by her loving husband Charles John Culnane. Anna graduated from Hoosic Falls High School in 1944 and was a communicant of Assumption/St. Paul Church in Mechanicville. She was a long-standing member of Court St. Paul #71, Catholic Daughters of America. She loved traveling to see her daughters and their families and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Anna lived through the Great Depression and came away with a love of and an appreciation for life. She enjoyed each day and could always be found with a smile on her face. She never bemoaned lifes lot and always embraced each new challenge with grace. We were blessed to have such a wonderful mother and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her 5 daughters, Cathy Culnane (Patrick Torosian) of Memphis, TN, Nancy (Lawrence) DiPietro of Centreville, VA, Beth (Greg) Sampson of Mercer Island, WA, Karen (Steve) Ziff of Ashburn, VA, and Christine Culnane of Mechanicville, NY, 7 grandchildren, Casey DiPietro, Matthew DiPietro, Kylie Sampson, Emerey Sampson, Jacob Ziff, Rachel Ziff, and Audrey Ziff. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Charles John Culnane, she is predeceased by her sister Florence McCauley, stepbrothers Ray Heslin and Bill Heslin, and stepsister Mary Haughney. Relatives and friends may call from 4-7:00pm on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 319 Park Avenue, Mechanicville. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 12 noon on Friday at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 North Main Street, Mechanicville. Burial will be at the convenience of her family.
