Troy - Rensselaer Abner J. Weir of Troy, passed away at his residence after being stricken. He was 74. Born in Troy on March 2, 1938, son of the late Alan J. and Clara L. Hansen Weir. He is the husband of Joan (Archambeault) Weir. Survivors in addition to his wife Joan include his Son, James (Lynne) Weir, one step daughter, four step children, his siblings, Daniel (Linda) Weir, Kathleen (John) Greene, Roseann (James) Stearns and John (Mary) Weir. Also survived by his 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sisters, Irene Weir and Dorothy Bruno. Relatives and friends may call from 11-1:00pm on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street Schaghticoke. A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home at 1pm following the visitation with Pastor Clyde McCaskill, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery.
